Significance

Observed on the Krishna Ekadashi of the Ashadha month. According to scriptures, observing this fast cures severe skin diseases and physical ailments, and lifts past curses. The spiritual merit of this fast is equated to feeding 80,000 Brahmins.

Rituals & Customs

Lord Vishnu is worshipped by bathing the idol in Panchamrit, followed by offerings of flowers, sandalwood paste, incense, and lamps. Worshipping the Peepal tree on this day is highly auspicious. Devotees often keep a night vigil singing hymns.

Fasting Rules

Standard Ekadashi fasting rules apply strictly. Abstinence from all grains, cereals, and rice is required. The fast begins the previous night and is broken (Paran) on Dwadashi morning.
