Significance

Observed on the Krishna Ekadashi of the Vaisakha month. 'Varuthini' translates to 'armored' or 'protected'. It is believed that observing this fast acts as a protective shield against all evils, misfortunes, and bad luck.

Rituals & Customs

Lord Vishnu (specifically his Vamana avatar) is worshipped. Offerings include incense, lamps, flowers, and Tulsi leaves. Donating melons and food to the needy is considered highly auspicious.

Fasting Rules

Standard Ekadashi fasting rules apply strictly. Abstinence from all grains, cereals, and rice is required. Eating from bell-metal utensils is forbidden. The fast begins the previous night and is broken on Dwadashi morning.
