Observed on the Shukla Navami of the Ashadha month, exactly eight days after the initial Rath Yatra. It marks the return journey of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra from their aunt's house (Gundicha Temple) back to their main temple.
Similar to the onward journey, the deities are ceremonially placed on their chariots and devotees pull the ropes with devotion. A special baked sweet called Poda Pitha is traditionally offered during the journey.
There are no fasting requirements. Devotees pull the chariot and share traditional snacks afterwards.
The Shukla Navami tithi during the scheduled chariot pulling hours.
