Significance

Observed on the Shukla Ekadashi of the Shravana month. Similar to the Pausha Putrada Ekadashi, it is observed by couples seeking the blessing of a child. It is also known as Pavitropana Ekadashi, as a sacred woven thread is ceremonially offered to Lord Vishnu.

Rituals & Customs

Lord Vishnu is worshipped. The deity is bathed with Panchamrit and offered incense, lamps, flowers, and Tulsi leaves. Chanting the Santan Gopal mantra and lighting lamps in a Vishnu temple is highly auspicious.

Fasting Rules

Standard Ekadashi fasting rules apply strictly. Abstinence from all grains, cereals, and rice is required. The fast begins the previous night and is broken (Paran) on Dwadashi morning.
