Celebrated on the Shukla Panchami of the Magh month. It honors Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge, music, arts, and wisdom, and marks the arrival of spring.
Offerings primarily include yellow and white marigolds and Palash flowers. Students place their books, pens, and musical instruments at the Goddess's feet. Toddlers perform Hate Khori, their first writing lesson. Offerings include Kul and Khichuri.
Students and devotees fast from the morning until they offer Pushpanjali. The fast is broken with fruits and prasad. It is a strict tradition not to eat Kul before offering it to the Goddess on this day.
