Significance

Observed on the Krishna Ekadashi of the Pausha month. 'Saphala' translates to 'success'. Observing this fast is believed to bring success in all righteous endeavors, whether personal or professional. Its spiritual merit is equated to performing a thousand Ashwamedha Yajnas.

Rituals & Customs

Lord Narayana is worshipped. Offerings include incense, lamps, betel nuts, coconuts, citrus fruits, and Tulsi leaves. Keeping a night vigil with oil lamps burning before the deity is highly auspicious.

Fasting Rules

Standard Ekadashi fasting rules apply strictly. Abstinence from all grains, cereals, and rice is required. The fast begins the previous night and is broken (Paran) on Dwadashi morning.
