Significance

Observed on the Krishna Chaturthi of every lunar month. 'Sankat Nashan' means the destroyer of sorrows and obstacles. Dedicated to Lord Ganesha, observing this fast is believed to eliminate severe problems and hurdles.

Rituals & Customs

Lord Ganesha is worshipped with offerings of Durva grass, red flowers, sandalwood paste, and vermilion. His favourite sweets, Modak or Laddoo, are offered. The central ritual involves offering Arghya to the moon in the evening.

Fasting Rules

Devotees observe a fast from sunrise. The fast is broken only after sighting the moon in the evening, offering Arghya, and consuming a Sattvic meal.

Auspicious Timing

Throughout the Chaturthi tithi, with the evening moonrise being the most critical time.
