Observed on the Shukla Dwitiya of the Phalguna month. It is the birth anniversary of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, one of the greatest spiritual masters of the 19th century. His teachings of religious harmony guide millions. The day is celebrated with reverence at Belur Math and all Ramakrishna Mission centres.
Garlands, flowers, and sandalwood paste are offered to the image of Sri Ramakrishna. The day is marked by devotional songs, reading of scriptures, and spiritual discourses. Annadan, feeding the poor and devotees, is a central practice.
Devotees generally fast in the morning until the main puja and Pushpanjali are offered, breaking their fast with the community prasad at noon.
