Celebrated on the Shukla Ashtami of the Bhadrapada month, exactly 15 days after Krishna Janmashtami. It marks the birth anniversary of Srimati Radharani, who embodies Lord Krishna's Hladini Shakti — the divine energy of love and bliss.
The idol of Radharani is bathed with Panchamrit and dressed in splendid new garments. She is offered flowers, particularly blue lotuses or Kadamba flowers, along with sweets. Devotees sing Kirtans celebrating the divine love of Radha-Krishna throughout the day.
Devotees observe a fast from the morning until midday, considered the time of her birth. The fast is broken with vegetarian prasad following the midday puja.
The Madhyahna (midday) period during the Ashtami tithi.
