Significance

'Putrada' translates to 'giver of children'. Childless couples observe this fast with devotion to seek blessings for a child, while parents observe it for the well-being and longevity of their children.

Rituals & Customs

Lord Vishnu is worshipped. The deity is bathed with Panchamrit and offered incense, lamps, flowers, and Tulsi leaves. Chanting the Vishnu Sahasranama and the Santan Gopal mantra is considered highly auspicious.

Fasting Rules

Standard Ekadashi rules apply. The fast begins on the night of Dashami. On Ekadashi, grains and cereals are strictly prohibited. The fast is broken (Paran) on Dwadashi morning.
