Significance

Observed on the Krishna Ekadashi of the Chaitra month. 'Papmochani' translates to 'the absolver of sins'. Falling right before the Hindu New Year, observing this fast is believed to cleanse the devotee of all known and unknown sins committed in the past year.

Rituals & Customs

Lord Vishnu is worshipped in his four-armed form. The deity is offered incense, lamps, Tulsi leaves, and sandalwood paste. Listening to or reading the Papmochani Ekadashi Vrat Katha is highly recommended.

Fasting Rules

Standard Ekadashi fasting rules apply strictly. Abstinence from all grains, cereals, and rice is required. The fast begins the previous night and is broken (Paran) on Dwadashi morning.

Throughout the Ekadashi tithi, with a specific window for Paran on Dwadashi morning.
