Significance

Observed on the Panchami tithi. This day is dedicated to the worship of the supreme cosmic sound Om (Onkar) and the ultimate reality. It holds special significance for Shaivites, as Lord Shiva is worshipped in his Onkar form, symbolising the infinite universe.

Rituals & Customs

Devotees meditate on the formless aspect of the divine or Lord Shiva. The Shiva Linga is worshipped with water, Bel leaves, and white flowers. Chanting the Omkar sound or 'Om Namah Shivaya' 108 times brings deep spiritual peace.

Fasting Rules

Devotees observe a partial fast or maintain a strict Sattvic diet until the morning worship and meditation are completed.
