Significance

Observed on the Shukla Ekadashi of the Margashirsha month. 'Mokshada' means the bestower of Moksha. This is the exact day Lord Krishna narrated the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, thus celebrated as Gita Jayanti.

Rituals & Customs

Lord Krishna and Lord Vishnu are worshipped. The deity is offered incense, lamps, flowers, and Tulsi leaves. Reading, reciting, or listening to chapters from the Bhagavad Gita on this day yields immense spiritual merit.

Fasting Rules

Standard Ekadashi fasting rules apply strictly. Abstinence from all grains, cereals, and rice is required. The fast begins the previous night and is broken (Paran) on Dwadashi morning.
