Observed annually on the 19th of the Bengali month of Jyeshtha. It marks the Mahasamadhi of the great yogi and saint Baba Lokenath Brahmachari. His assurance — that whenever a devotee is in danger, remembering him brings protection — remains a profound source of strength for millions in Bengal.
Devotees worship Baba Lokenath at homes and ashrams with sandalwood paste, garlands, and incense. Offerings of rock sugar, ice apples, and white Batasa are traditional. Organising community kitchens (Annadan) to feed the poor is the most significant ritual of the day.
Devotees typically fast from the morning, breaking it only by consuming the community prasad during lunch.
The entire 19th day of Jyeshtha.
