Celebrated on the Sankranti of the Kartik month, worshipping Lord Kartikeya, the commander-in-chief of the celestial army. In Bengal, this puja is primarily performed by childless couples praying for fertility and a healthy child.
The deity is offered traditional weapons like a bow and arrow, and toys. A unique Bengali tradition is Kartik Phelano — neighbours secretly leave a clay idol of Kartikeya at the doorstep of a childless couple at night, obligating them to perform the puja the next day.
The couple performing the puja observes a fast from the morning until the Pushpanjali is completed. The fast is broken with fruits and sweets.
Evening (Pradosh Kaal) on the day of Kartik Sankranti.
