Celebrated on the Shukla Navami of the Kartik month. Goddess Jagaddhatri is a calm and benevolent manifestation of Goddess Durga. The festival is celebrated with immense grandeur in Chandannagar and Krishnanagar in Bengal.
The Goddess is depicted with four arms, riding a lion. In many households the tradition is to perform the Saptami, Ashtami, and Navami pujas all on the single Navami day across three phases (Trikal Puja).
Devotees observe a strict waterless fast until the Navami Pushpanjali is completed. The fast is broken with fruits and prasad only after the final phase of the puja.
The Navami tithi, specifically divided into three Prahars from morning to evening.
