Significance

Celebrated on the Phalguna Purnima, the day after Holika Dahan. It is the festival of colours heralding the arrival of spring. It celebrates the divine love of Radha and Krishna while serving as a day to forget past grievances and unite people across all social divides.

Rituals & Customs

The day begins by offering coloured powder (Abir/Gulal) to the idols of Radha and Krishna. People then play with dry colours and coloured water with family, friends, and neighbours. Traditional delicacies like Malpua, Gujiya, and Thandai are prepared and shared.

There are no fasting rules for this day. It is purely a day of community feasting, sharing sweets, and celebration.
