Significance

The Amavasya of the Shravana month. 'Hariyali' translates to greenery. This day falls during the peak monsoon and is a festival celebrating nature, agriculture, and the lush green earth. It is deeply connected to the worship of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

Rituals & Customs

Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are worshipped. Devotees offer water and Bel leaves to the Shiva Linga. A major ritual is planting new saplings, especially Peepal, Banyan, Neem, or Banana, and worshipping trees to honour nature.

Fasting Rules

Devotees observing a specific vow keep a day-long fast. They break the fast with a Sattvic vegetarian meal in the evening only after completing the Shiva Puja.
