The Shukla Shashthi of the Ashwin month, marking the formal commencement of Sharadiya Durga Puja. Since autumn is technically the resting period for the deities, Lord Rama performed an Akal Bodhon (untimely awakening) of Goddess Durga. This day replicates that awakening.
The primary rituals held in the evening are Kalparambha, Bodhon, Amantran, and Adhibas. The Goddess is symbolically awakened under a Bel tree and invited into the idol. The festival officially kicks off with the beating of the Dhak.
There is no strict public fast. The primary organiser or priest maintains a Sattvic diet until the evening Bodhon is fully completed.
Evening (Godhuli Kaal) during the Shashthi tithi.
