Significance

Observed strictly in Bengal on the Tuesday or Saturday falling between Rath Yatra and Ulta Rath. Devotees worship Maa Bipattarini, a protective incarnation of Goddess Durga, to shield their families from all dangers, diseases, and obstacles.

Rituals & Customs

Offerings must strictly follow the count of 13: 13 types of fruits, 13 flowers, 13 betel leaves with nuts, and 13 sweets. Following the puja, women tie a sacred red thread with 13 knots and 13 blades of durva grass on their left arm, and men on their right arm.

Fasting Rules

Complete fast until the completion of the puja. The fast is broken by consuming Luchi, fruits, and sweets. Eating rice is strictly forbidden on this day.

Morning to mid-day (the puja must be concluded before sunset).
